Adrian and I hit the road on our motorcycle, welcoming in the beautiful sunny Thursday morning. We had a lovely ride and traveled South-East of where we live to an island that has lots of great beaches.
We had a yummy lunch along the way and then topped that of with some delish Baskin Robbins! What could be better then that?
I was super thrilled because Baskins just introduced a new flavor; Blueberry Oatmeal! How cool is that. For all you oatmeal lovers out there, this flavor rocks! Oatmeal and blueberries in ice cream form is amazing.
We enjoyed our ride and then discovered a super nice beach to camp on for the night.
Everything was great! We had a nice BBQ…lots of grilled veggies and pork.
But then it started to rain a little bit. Luckily we were finished eating by this time, so we packed up and took cover inside the tent. We were all nice and cozy in our sleeping bags just chatting away when Adrian felt the ground under his sleeping bag (At this point the rain was pouring down).
No word of a lie, it was like we were lying on a water bed. So much water had accumulated under our tent, it was like we were floating, and it was slowly starting to leak in…Eeek!
So we decided that there was no way we could keep our tent in that place the whole night and that it needed to be moved. In the middle of the rainstorm we unpacked our tent and moved our location onto higher ground. It was a good idea, but in the process, all of our stuff got soaked!
We tried to sleep as much as we could but the floor of our tent was sopping and our sleeping bags soaked it up like sponges. I woke up many times to feel that my pajamas were drenched as well. As a result I had a very cold and wet sleep, which did not help the cold I am trying to fight.
It was still raining in the morning and we both decided that the best thing would be to pack up and head home; as all of our stuff was soaked through and it would not be dry by the next night.
I was really craving a hot shower and dry clothes at this point, so the prospect of heading home was a good one. It was a uncomfortable experience, but when you look back at it, it’s actually pretty funny!
We came home and got warm and then I whipped up a yummy pasta to comfort our tummys.
Sometimes it’s fun to experience crazy things like this because you can learn a lot from it (never put your tent on low ground when it’s going to rain, Ha!) or it’s just good for a laugh.
Although we bailed on our camping trip, we will find something else fun to do for the rest of our weekend. Maybe we will hit up the beach today?
Have a glorious weekend!
